Alcoholism can be considered as a huge problem nowadays. There are big underlying circumstances behind this. Fortunately, alcoholism can be treated if diagnose earlier. It is important to learn the signs to beat alcoholism and identify the problems. Here are signs you should know about alcoholism. Most of these symptoms, if not all, may be manifested in your behavior.

IMMATURE MANNERS – An individual who has lack of sense of responsibility if under the influence of alcohol may have a drinking problem. Irresponsible behaviors are one major signs of alcoholism. It will bring a lot of problem risking the lives of others and his as well. Driving under the influence of alcohol, physical abuse of a family member such as wife or children, engaging into trouble, putting one’s career into trouble by going to work late or not at all or prioritizing drinking rather than family are all signs of irresponsible behavior that can lead to alcoholism.

PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS – An alcoholic may experience health problems when consuming huge amount of alcohol. Serious health issues includes over-fatigue, stomach problems, rigorous headaches, lost of appetite, anxiety and other health issues that can lead to more serious problem. The long term effect of excessive alcohol consumption can also lead to liver failure, heart malfunction and other internal organ problems. Needless to say, all these health risk situations may lead to life threatening diseases and premature death.

LONG TERM DRINKING – An alcoholic may drink all hours of the day starting in the morning. It may end up late afternoon or in the evening. He is not a social drinker so he will consume alcohol alone and may lead to hard drinking and uncontrolled behavior.

HIGH TOLERANCE TO ALCOHOL – The alcoholic may consume a large amount of alcohol than usual without feeling satisfaction. He may drink excessively without feeling its side effects as well. They will have a hard time controlling or stopping drinking once he had started.

MAKING ALCOHOL HIS BESTFRIEND – When an alcoholic feels he has nothing to turn to, he may turn his concentration to drinking due to lack of support and attention. He may make alcohol a “tool” to use with stress or pressure. Generally, the dependency to alcohol starts with emotional problems. An alcoholic may feel “alone” finding someone who can “talk” to. And that triggers the drinking habit every time he feels bad.

POOR EATING HABIT – Once an alcoholic starts drinking, he may forget eating because his attention is in the activity which he prioritized. After consuming alcohol, he can’t eat due to the effect of alcohol in the body. Poor eating habit will lead to loss of appetite making the individual malnourished.

GETTING ANGRY WHEN CONFRONTED – An alcoholic always have reasons prior to his drinking behavior. He may get angry when insisted to quit drinking by family members. He will always protect his drinking because he believes that he has no problem with his drinking habit.

DENYING HE IS AN ALCOHOLIC – When an individual asks by others or by him self whether he is an alcoholic or not, he will always deny it. He just sees himself as “drinking” not “drinking excessively”.

Try to engage in an alcohol rehabilitation program that really deals with alcohol addiction so that you or someone you love get help from professionals.
